Re: 8-24 quake at napa
I've not heard and I'm worried as the quake was pretty much centered right near the marina.
It did not wake me up and I was only 18 miles from the epicenter though on the boat.

If you know anyone at the marina/yard who can give info I'll be grateful as I have a boat on the hard there.

Odds are the power is out there. Heard highway 121 was just reopened an hour ago after caltrans checked the roads/ bridges.

Re: 8-24 quake at napa
News I read said PG&E said at first power was out to 30,000, but within the first hour after has got it restored to 10,000 (approx.) The quake was reported as a Richter 6.
Sailorchic, interesting it didn't wake you. We were on a mooring in Pt. Vila, Vanuatu when a quake struck and we heard this huge bang, the rigging shook, and looking out, dust was rising all over town.
Things will "normalize" soon, all the damages I read of were normal stuff, nothing unusual.

Re: 8-24 quake at napa
Sailorchic, still no news re: marina. But CalTrans reports only minor damage to highways and bridges. And really good news, the water supply at Napa is still safe.

Re: 8-24 quake at napa
I bought my 1977 Peterson 34 back in February. The plan was to haul her out AT Napa ASAP!!
Over the last few months I've been out a few times to deal with almost Criminal bull from the previous owner twice (once to finally get the title!).
However I always did a few jobs on her while I was there. This last was exhaust and scrubbed the bottom with a pole brush. Eventually deciding she will need hauling after a Re-rig and deck work. Maybe some interior too. In the end a haul isn't needed until I'm ready to cruise it away.
So on July 2nd, I was out motoring around for my first time. (WOO HOO!!!) When I decided to keep her wet.
ANYWAY,..I've been feeling like MAYBE I dodged a bullet here! Still extremely curious about the Marina though. It's been at the forefront of my mind every time I hear the words Earthquake in Napa.
I hope we get an answer OP. When you do hear something report back please.

Per this news report, a few boats slipped off their stands, but there was no damage.
Considering the marina was the epicenter of the quake, that's pretty amazing.

According to the Marina's management, only a few herring boats fell off their stands. The office and store are a mess, but the marina is mostly ok.
if you google: sfgate "napa valley marina", there is a story about the marina being the epicenter of the earthquake.

Re: 8-24 quake at napa
Why not call the marina directly?

Re: 8-24 quake at napa
Sounds like all the boats were fine at the marina. The direction of force was north south and I was more south west of the marina, toward the central bay. There are lots of faults around here. That one is a minor one.
I never go more then a week or so without topping off my water tanks.
I use to work in downtown Napa for a few years, designing wineries. The engineering office had it's own wine, but then everyone does there. A nice little town.
