Buying New: what did you learn

We are seriously considering a New boat. Have bought and sold 3 previous used/new to us sail boats. This will potentially be our first New New boat. New process and we don’t know what we don’t know.

Tell me what you learned from your new boat purchase. What went well? What would you do differently. Any negotiating advice? Did you purchase sails and electronics at time of purchase? Other equipment you included or didn’t that you would add or delete today? All other random thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks

The prices of installed equipment, particularly electronics always looks very, very high to me. If you think you're reasonably competent enough to install it yourself, then you should consider it.

Exactly how we have assessed it and if we go ahead how we are leaning. Uninstalled similar system about 50% of factory installed. My time must be worth less than their hourly rates
