Inreach + Fastseas weather routing?

Has anyone here tried this combination?
How does it work and how will it be displayed? Possible to get it on a map or do I need to plot it manually?

Same thing for requesting weather...possible to get it into a map?

Re: Inreach + Fastseas weather routing?

Hi, this is Jeremy from FastSeas.

The way it works is that you send FastSeas a request from your inReach device. FastSeas will then automatically respond to your request within a couple minutes, sending you a reply message or several messages depending on the length of the reply (each message is capped at 160 characters).

You can send FastSeas routing and departure planning requests. Sample requests and responses are available on the FastSeas site. For example, if you send this:

Code:
To: query@fastseas.com
SEND ROUTE: 10.9N, 63.8W, EMAIL=JEREMY@FASTSEAS.COM
FastSeas will respond with this:

Code:
HOUR,LAT,LNG,WIND,COG
H0,11.58N,67.75W,15G18@78,126
H6,11.17N,67.16W,16G19@81,126
H12,11.04N,66.65W,10G14@110,59
H18,11.34N,66.02W,12G15@114,54
You do have to plot these waypoints manually, as FastSeas is unable to send maps or GPX files (or any attachments) via inReach.

Also, while FastSeas does provide a "free tier" of service for routing and departure planning on the web site, requests via inReach do require a paid subscription.

Cheers,
Jeremy
