Two EPIRB’s registered to one boat

I just replaced my ten year old EPIRB. I didn’t want to spend the money to replace the battery on an old piece of electronic equipment when the new units have user replaceable batteries, among other improvements.
I didn’t de-register my old unit when I registered its replacement, I never read where it was required.
I figured it’s always nice to have a backup, unless someone knows something I may have missed. Anyone else have experience in this situation?

Google is your friend... From the NOAA Website

Can I have more than one beacon registered to a vessel/aircraft?
Yes, because each beacon has a unique hex ID. You can link multiple beacon registrations under one user account.
