Because 38 years would just be too much punishment for a developing 3rd world nation to endure...

Canadian Man Ronald Stan, Missing For 37 Years, Found In Oklahoma
Quote:
Police were not forthcoming with the details about how they tracked Stan down, but, according to the Star, he has a family in Oklahoma that had no idea about his Canadian past.

"There's a lot that's available to us now for investigative tools that wasn't available to us back in 1977," Const. Laurie Houghton told the Star. "As a result, we were able to connect the dots, essentially, and lead us to the state of Oklahoma."
Damn that Facebook! Never should have subscribed to that Canadian Barn Burner group.

Coops.
It may take us 37 years to understand no clue what his intent truly is. Speculation is my only guess

Re: Take the Anti-Piracy Pledge

How about this for a piracy pledge;

"I hereby pledge not to start any more dopey piracy threads; I pledge not to participate in same (oops, already broken that one) ; And I'll gladly contribute to a fund to study why people who have never and are never likely to go any where in the world where there is the remotest risk of coming into contact with pirates, waste so much time and energy and hot air on the subject."

One tomahawk is insufficient.
Send in a wing of B-52s and carpet bomb the entire area to hello where the inhabitants belong.

Re: Take the Anti-Piracy Pledge

Those who study the Quran know the reference to 37 years. It is indeed longer than 36, but shorter than 38 as written.

I get that 37 is is more than 36 and less than 38 but you can say that about any 3 successive numbers. Since most of us seem to be deficient in our Quran studies, how about sharing what is so significant about 37? After all, if we're to be expected to embrace this pledge of yours, don't we need to know what we're signing up for?

Re: Take the Anti-Piracy Pledge

What I don't understand is, if there weren't going to be any charges, why in the world did they upend this guy's life? I mean ok the guy was a jerk to abandon his family in Canada, but if there is no crime then the police figuratively just punished this guy for no good reason other than they thought he was a jerk.

A complete search of the Quran does not reveal a single reference to "thirty six", "thirty seven" or "thirty eight" :

The Quranic Arabic Corpus - Search Help

Care to enlighten us heathens as to the significance?

Christians have heathens, Muslims have infidels

Very similar, except for the little detail that no Christian group is advocating or practicing that all heathens should all have their heads cut off or be lined up and shot or otherwise be murdered. You DO understand that distinction?
