Medical Evacuation Insurance

I'm planning an offshore voyage in near future to Caribbean. Do you know of any insurance companies that offer reasonably priced offshore medical evacuation and repatriation insurance?

BoatUS and BlueCross do not.

Check out Global Rescue. I am not sure if they cover offshore, but they do cover very remote regions.

"Is DAN Boater membership restricted by geographic location?
You are eligible to apply for membership if your primary residence is in the United States or Canada."

Your experience contradicts their site info.

You do not say where you are located. Did you look at DAN international?

Re: Medical Evacuation Insurance

So what is the difference between DAN insurance and DANBoater insurance. It looks like the the repatriation is more flexible on the DANboater, but you are not covered for a diving accident. It seems like if you dive you'd be better to carry both.

Re: Medical Evacuation Insurance

I live in the US and have been a DAN member for a long time. Don't know what effect geography/home address has, but one of the best things about their evac insurance is that they will evac you for any medical reason, not just something caused by your diving activities.

I recommend that anyone who travels the world join DAN for this very reason. You don't have to be a diver to join, or to take advantage of their evac coverage.

Re: Medical Evacuation Insurance

We have been looking at this recently for our next season in Pacific Mexico. We are from USA. Three options we are looking at are DAN Boater, Sky Med, and GEOS Medivac.
Would appreciate any feedback on any other these firms, negative or positive.
One comment I have heard on DAN is that they have the restriction that they make the call if you need to be evacuated to your home country (USA), and can keep you in foreign hospital if you are getting appropriate care there in their opinion. Of course if your medical insurance does not cover extended treatment outside of USA you are then stuck with the medical bills.
Sky Med seems coverage seem the best, but much more expensive.
GEOS seems good, maybe a split between DAN and Sky Med.
Again, comments appreciated on this subject.
