Interesting.

This has been known and understood for a decade or more. The milsurp Warsaw Pact steel 26.5mm flare guns are plenty strong when used with the steel KCC insert. The "The High Road" thread is from 2004 and contains a mixed bag of ideas, some valid, some not.

Keep trying. What about the link to the actual "letter which says it's not a firearm" from Kennesaw which they ship with each insert? You claimed it states that the sub caliber insert is not a weapon. It doesn't, it only says you must find out for yourself what the law is and comply with it. You probably shouldn't advise people to do illegal things on a public forum. If the ATF no longer sees this as illegal, as they state in the link I posted above, where is your link to the relevant info? Are we supposed to just believe you over the ATF? If someone does that and is arrested, can they refer the law back to this thread? You also didn't address the issue of having to illegally hide ammunition to make this work...

First, a disclaimer...
I am not anti gun. Grew up shooting firearms of all descriptions. Have enjoyed shooting everything from .22's to AR15's and the whole range of shotguns, as well as pistols. They're fun!

That said... The advice on the flare gun with insert is just bad advice.
Many places the flare gun itself is considered a firearm and would at least be confiscated.
Many places even the possession of ammunition is illegal and could land you in jail.
Even in the relatively gun tolerant US there are places just the ammunition could get you arrested. Hell, in DC it"s illegal to even posses an already discharged shell casing.
There are plenty enough ways to defend yourself without risking jail. I had a friend who, upon finding herself facing an attacker who had broken in the outer door to her apartment, used a chemical fire extinguisher to blind the man. He was still stumbling around blind when the police got there. Don't know if he ever recovered his sight, don't really care.
As has been pointed out by other, you are a guest in these countries, obey their laws and use your brains to keep yourself safe. Don't go where sheep are considered tasty food.

I bet almost everyone here has heard of these "inserts" before, it isn't like you are telling us anything new (except how you say it with insults thrown in)

There were zero insults in my original post, then I was called a Full Retard.
But that's okay around here, I now understand.

Funny... I think calling someone a 'Sheepie' coz they have a different approach to something is a bit off..
Maybe 'we' think the 'Sheepies' are the one's who get their knickers in a twist and run around bleating in panic when nothing much is actually happening in the grand scheme of things..
Okay.. so sometimes someone occasionally gets killed somewhere while out cruising.. yes.. its tragic... but come on.. if everyone adopted that approach doors would be answered wearing bulletproof stab vests with a Glock in one hand and a can of Mace in the other..
Get a Bludi grip...
The Terrorists have definitely won the war..

I'm confused now as I thought you said **$#&

One thing that comes to mind is that I have been to lots of places where houses have bars on the windows. In such places I feel it is a good practice to lock your stuff and companion way and leave a deck light on. But I've still had some great times in those places and am glad I visited.
