SIMRAD Support...

SIMRAD's Customer Support channels are "closed" is the broadcasted message at their 800-628-4487 support line.

Problem: When I power on my Simrad Cruise 7 Chartplotter - the SIMRAD appears, the screen flickers, the SIMRAD reappears, then the screen goes black.

Sometimes on powering up, I've been able to accept the T&C and view the menu options on the main menu screen before is goes black.

Any and all recommendations on my problem or how to contact SIMRAD, Navico or Brunswick (the parent company) is welcomed.

Currently, All incoming "Contact Us" communication methods lead to dark spaces.

Again, THANKS IN ADVANCE - FOR AID IN THIS MATTER...

Re: SIMRAD Support...

I KNOW this is a silly question, but you DID call during their business hours, right?

Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST, and not on a holiday?

I only ask because I have never had any trouble getting in touch with any of the Navico tech support lines.

Re: SIMRAD Support...

I have knowledge of their hours of operation, timezone they function in and holidays honored. Matter of fact, your pasted experience with Novice tech support reflects mine.
Never-the-less, I'm broadcasting both, my current interaction and need for aid.

Re: SIMRAD Support...

I'll check power issue.
Corroded wire unlikely - working with unit in home office.
Thanks!

Re: SIMRAD Support...

Can it be a low power issue? If you are testing from a bench, are you going through a battery, or a step down transformer?

Good luck!

Simrad, B&G and other owned by Brunswick have been hacked. All support services are shut down.

That's certainly not good, but at least it is a reason that I can live with. May I ask where you saw this information?

Re: SIMRAD Support...

Simrad was owned by Kingsburg. They split the business units, into strategic categories that didn't include much of the small commercial customers in what they kept.

I believe you are correct.
According to Wiki, “In 1996 the Simrad Group was purchased by the Kongsberg Group which, following a decision to focus on the industrial market, sold on the Simrad recreational product range to Altor Equity Partners in 2005, creating Simrad Yachting. Simrad Group and Simrad Yachting are therefore now entirely independent of each other, with separate owners and distinct product specialisations. It was the merger of Simrad Yachting and Lowrance Inc in 2006 that went on to create the Navico Group, now the largest leisure marine electronics manufacturer in the world.”

Re: SIMRAD Support...

I waited on hold for 90 minutes today. Made it from the 8th caller in the queue to the 6th before I ran out of time. Pretty sure they weren't actually answering the calls and 2 people in front of me just gave up.

Re: SIMRAD Support...

Ok google brought me here because I've been on hold with Simrad support for 3 days now, all day. They just keep hanging up the phone. Yes, I'm calling during business hours as soon as the phones open up. This is no good, is there any other way to get support ?

My Simrad NSX-12 echo screen doesn't work. I can factory reset and possibly make it work but after shutting down the NSX and restarting it goes back to a blank Echo screen. Just looking for anyone knowlege here. Thanks.

Re: SIMRAD Support...

I purchased a Go9 in June of 2022 for my 17' center console that doesn't get used much in New England. This lasted 7 hours before a complete screen failure. After several months Simrad replaced this with another Go9. This one lasted 15 hours before a complete screen failure. They are now sending me another Go9 in time for the 2024 season with a reminder my 2 year warrenteel expires in June. My other boat has a 3 year old Furuno on my upper helm and a 15 year old Garmin on the lower helm both working perfectly. Since these units are not inexpensive, I can't recommend the quality or service many have received from Furuno. Do your on line research on Simrad complaints before you buy.
