Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

We went through this awhile back when someone asked for Bing Support. I found that to use the API you have to have license from MS so each user of GE2KAP would need that license. And it would be a major rewrite.

Sorry

I am more or less aware of that. I wasn't thinking of a (possibly) full legit system, but of using SASplanet to get a geolocalized (.kap) image and
blending the bmp image with the same view from a chart displayed on opencpn...
But I'm possibly daydreaming

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

sailoF54,
I depend heavily on GE's feature to overlay images and adjust them and SasPlanet does not seem to have such a feature.

Anyway SasPlanet sure opens a lot of possibilities for charts. Using Navionics charts you can create charts for just about anywhere that seem fairly accurate. I used them for Mexico and they seem right on compared to GE. The existing Mexican charts are sometimes very inaccurate, like Puerto Morrelos but the Navionics one was right on, even showing the new El Cid marina.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I just uploaded a new version of GE2KAP that fixes a few minor problem with the introduction of SasPlanet support mostly cosmetic, messages and labels. But it fixes one bug where sometimes Google Earth gets installed under the Users directory.

You can get it by either clicking on the "Check For Updates" on the third panel or going to my website:

Sample and going to the Downloads page and clicking on GE2KAP.V15.0.2.1

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

OK uploaded GE2KAP.V15.0.2.2 that should correct your problem and also a problem if you are running on Win7 32 bit when GE2KAP terminates.

Please give a try

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Are are a couple of screenshots of OpenCPN displaying charts for the entrance to Marina Hemingway in Cuba. The first is the CM93 chart then the chart created using GE2KAP and SasPlanet displaying a Navionics chart, and the third using GE2KAP, SasPlanet same Navionics chart and overlaying it on GE.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Thanks for feedback.

The Bmp is deleted when you create another chart or terminate Ge2kap

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I have created a program to follow a route to load the SasPlanet cache so you can use it later offline. Its similar to my GERoute program. I have two testers of this new program but if anyone else would like to test it let me know. You'll have to PM your email address if I don't have it already.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone !!!

Paul,
you have done a great job mate.
I have been off the boat since early Dec on "Holiday" in my former residential city of Perth W. Australia, hence my absence from this thread.

I will not be back on board till early Feb, but I have my navigation computer with me with SAS and its chart cache, I guess I can test the charting capabilities, but I don't think I can test the routing.

I just downloaded V15.0.2.2, do I need to uninstall the older 1.0 version first?
Please tell me what I can do to help testing.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP V16

I just uploaded a new version that corrects these problems:

1. If you are creating charts from a path or tiling and your Internet is slow, it was possible to get blurry charts.

2. Removed that pesky BMP from the chart directory.

3. There was no way to pause GE2KAP once it started creating a large number of charts. Now simply bring any application to the foreground by clicking on it in the taskbar and GE2KAP will pause to allow you to other work, change settings in GE or terminate processing. You can also continue processing if you like.

You can get it by clicking on "Check for Updates on the third panel or go yp my website: Sample and go to the Downloads and clicking on
GE2KAP.V16.0.0.0

And to answer your question spiv: No you don't have to uninstall the old version. You may want to go back to it if the new one does work. Once you are satisfied with the new version then uninstall the old version if you like.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Darn!

There was a problem with V16.0.0.0 that it would not reposition GE on startup.

Please try V16.0.0.1

Sorry
