There were some problems with V9.4.0 so I have uploaded V9.4.8 you can get here www.gdayii.ca/Downloads something's wrong with the home page.

The things that have been changed:
- Unable to use OpenCPN Plugin.
- I no longer minimize all the windows
- Only take one snapshot of GE, it was taking two.
- The editor used when you press the View Chart is the same editor that is specified in the Image Editor field.
-The calibrated BMP and CHARTCAL.DIR are created in the same directory as the chart if that checkbox is checked.

The last change allows users of ORUXMaps to upload charts created by GE2KAP to their Android phones very easily.

Forgot to tell you the the password to unzip is: phiggins
You should unzip to some directory like C:\GE2KAP
Then open the readme.html and click on GE2KAP to see the Help instructions.

Hi Paul,

I tried GE2KAP on W7 with SamsungNC110 NetBook with 1024x600 screen resolution. But always got this eror message

:ERROR: NOSTRING occurred at line:10554
Content of line:

Then I began to try the other resolutions.

GE2KAP did not work till I set the screen resolution to 1152x864. However after it began to work under 1152x864 resolution, could not fix the true calibration and could not finalize the task.

Here is the lates lines from the log:

Hi,

Im an OCPN user for quite some time now and wanted to try creating chart overlays.

I downloaded GE2KAP V9.4.11 this week. Read this whole post, read valhalla's howto's and still... after starting the program it tries to create the chart, and at a certain point it stops with a beep and a message in the GE2KAP program "Error: unable to add overlay file C:\DUMMY\OPENCPN_DMY.BMP

I'm obviously missing something but can't figure out what. Can anybody out here help me please?

Your screen shot shows that you did not put the suffix .kap after the chart name. Perhaps that is the problem?

Thank you Terry for replying but putting .kap after the filename is not the solution. Any other suggestion?

I did a test with the same version of GE2KAP and the same settings as shown in your attachment,running under Win7 and all worked normally.

The error message you got is typical when you happen to touch the mouse during the map searing period,even the smallest movement will stop the operation. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING until you are asked to use the calibration and overlay slider.

Hello Tore,

Thank you for thinking with me, but I now have disconnected my mouse using the touchpad of my laptop only but the error still shows! I'm running Windows XP with OCPN version 3.01 and a Dutch localised version of GE (V6.1.0.5001).
I can see GE2KAP create the overlay in GE and adjusting it. I see it check the coordinates and then it stops with a beep and error. It seems to me that it should save a temp image. When trying to open it with view.exe it cannot find the image.
any other suggestions?

Figured it out :-))) (after 3 nights of trial and error) It seems GE2KAP only speaks english. I changed the language of GE from Dutch to English et voila... Just created my first GE2KAP overlay yippeee.

I don't see any difference between 10% and increments up to 50% nor even with the threshold turned off. Perhaps it a function of my using an older beta version of GE

But that doesn't bother me since I always use a semi-transparent overlay to my liking.

What did you have in mind to demonstrate?

Fixes a problem using the GIMP-2.8 image editor and also a problem using a route to create charts.

Download GE2KAP.ZIP the password to unzip is: phiggins
