Some of these suggestions were posted 3 years ago. Thank you for doing so. Now, three years later, we are heading same route, just from St.Kitts. these route options not readily available on other searches and we are relying heavily on all these suggestions.

It is intended for Oct'2019 . We are praying for good weather conditions .

Why head to the DR? Head north, leave Bahamas to port, pickup or cross the GS north of the islands.

Check your insurance company. Some have an issue entering "the box" before 11/1 when all hurricanes magically stop forming.

We made the trip returning from France to Pensacola Florida (November 2018 to April 2019). I have lots of information on my blog (see link below). Our route was basically:
BVI, USVI, Vieques, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Florida. It was a great trip - the only place I would avoid if doing it again would be Luperon, DR. A lot of cruisers rave about it (presumably because it is cheap), but we did not have a good experience there.

If you take a similar route, one "must see" place on the route is Hogsty Reef in the southern Bahamas. Its an amazing anchorage in an atoll - but only good in settled weather.
