Removing Barnacles

I had to leave my good 3 strand rode in the ICW for a couple months and now have some substantial barnacles growing on it (80 ft worth). There are problably some small ones within the twist. I know I can knock off the larger ones but I would like to clean out the grit inside the twist as well. Can I safely soak the nylon in some light acidic solution to desolve the remaining calcium? I do not want to put it into a washer with some remaining. Suggestions??

Nylon is not compatible with many acids

Try a pressure washer. It knocks them off the hull so it oughta work on rope.
