Antique/Vintage Grumman Dinghy - Value?

I have come upon an old grumman dinghy from the 60's or 70's. it is aluminum and about 8 or 9 ft long. I have heard that these are impossible to find these days and wanted to know if anybody had any thoughts on possible pricing if i decide to sell it. since these are so rare i wouldn't know where to start.

I found a few Grumman boats selling on Ebay. Perhaps this might help as a basis for valuing your boat? Craigs List may also be a source.

I too would be interested in any info you would be willing to share. I just finished a strip, paint, and re-fit on hull number 193 for my son who loves red and flames. I'd love to have some details about the boat as I have found little to nothing on the net about it.

i have yet to be able to find the model number and location on the dinghy. mine does not have a plate or seriel number that i can find....does yours???? if so where is it located.

Mine has 2 plates on the inboard side of the transom. One is a simple Grumman Boats plate that says it is rated for a 3hp engine, about 3"x3" and screen printed in what looks to be orange, but probably started off being red.... on the port side. The "ID" plate is an oval plate about 2.5x1.5" that is barely able to be read... it has the model and what I think is the hull number (built). It's located on the port, inboard side of the transom. Hard to miss if yours were there...

Thanks, but I think it only turned out well as I started with a good specimen except for the fact it looked like it was "sanded with a brick and painted with a broom " when I got it. Once stripped, I found no corrsion except where the rubrail was attached and teh orginal grumman green mil spec epoxy primer everywhere. Each screw hole had a pitted circle around it about the size of a nickle, and maybe 20 thousandths deep. Speaking of rub rails, I'm eager to see pics of Vancesoccer's boat as his original (I think) rubrail is intact... I'm toying with using a starboard machined rail with a 1/2" stainless radiused cap on the outside.
As for fact it is aluminum... what's amazing is the left and right sides are each one piece of aluminum joined at the keel and stem. An the transom was riveted on with the joint rolled with a file to make a beautiful seam.

We use to have one of these and me and my husband loved to row around it, has to seats and 2 sets of oars. Had a old Rhodes designed sail boat and this came with it.Fun to sail also
