Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

Don't know guys what are you talking about dissin' generic 12v pumps. I've been using one for years (got it on sale for $10 at Walmart for a camping mattress way before I've had the boat) and it does the job nicely on my Avon 310. Yes, sometimes need last 3-4 pumps by foot but even that is rarely needed if I inflate in the early morning as the inflatable will be rock solid in few hours in the sunshine.

Actually I don't mind the foot pump since it provides much needed exercise.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

we recently bought an air hammer / it inflates well but doesn't have a vacuum side to deflate fully for storage / when close to a 12volt cig outlet our small 12volt beach toy inflator saves a lot of huff and puff and it has a deflate side / recently fitted a cig plug socket to my kymco stepthrough for parking next to the dinghy and deflating or inflating / has not been field tested on the beach yet / plan is to inflate with 12volt inflator then top up to pressure with the air hammer

Sorry, didn't realise that one was non-deflating.

Mine's not actually an air hammer as per the link, but that was the closest I could find with a quick google image search. It is a fairly old italian "Access Marine Accessories Double Single Effect Hand Pump" and does have a vacuum side for deflation.

Actually, it's more like this one - complete with pressure gauge

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BUFF4W/

Edit: According to the earlier link
"Simple push in hose to pump connection inflates or deflates,"
Have you tried swapping the hose connnections around?

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

We bought an LVM around 20 years ago. Have used it extensively since then (full time cruiser) and still think it is better than any others that I have seen. Inflates our current 3.5 m RIB in around 2 minutes total, and will get it hard enough to use as is. We deflate the dinghy for passages, and it will suck it flat as well.

It cost something like four times the next most expensive one at the time we bought it (in the USA). It was absolutely worth it IMO.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

I have a 12v Bravo pump for sale $50.00. I used it for high pressure floor and low pressure sides with alligator clips and battery jumper box (sort of portable). I'm near Tampa.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

To repeat several others - the LVM - https://www.mailspeedmarine.com/hi-s...-deflator.html Mine's lasted over 25 years. Great for very rapid inflation and equally good for rapid deflation. Just a couple of minutes either way. Only tiny criticism - the power leads would benefit from another few feet to extend range between battery bank and wherever inflation is to occur. Very easily remedied.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

I use one of these:

Use the low-pressure side to get most of the way then switch to the high-pressure side to get to 3psi. Works great. Has a deflate mode. Was cheap. I use the Ryobi batteries for drill/spotlight/flashlight too, so always have a few charged on the boat.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

I never had any good experiences with 12V pumps, so bought a 120V one that works great (use the inverter). Glad to hear many of you found good 12V ones. Either way, foot pump required for final top off.

Not with the LVM. At least not for tubes - I can't speak for inflatable floors.

Re: 12V Inflatable Pump ?

On a side note; whose guage do you use to get accurate and EASY air PRESSURE readings when inflating your dinghy? My Avon came with a picture guage with a rotating disc that only seems to react at the end of your left leg.
