WD Schock New York 36 Running Rigging Systems

Hi!

I am currently renovating a WD Schock New York 36 and the previous owner did some serious work moving around the original running rigging systems. Does anyone has a NY 36 that would be willing to share some photos of your current running rigging so I can replicate it? As it is a "complicated rigging" I'm looking to be as aligned with the original system as possible. My main area of confusion is the head sail tracks.*

but you might try looking for listings of the NY36's for sale and check their pictures online. Various PHRF fleets have these boats, so you might be able to find another owner near you that way in order to comiserate.

Thanks for the note. Ya, I've been looking at listing and various pictures online without much luck. Posted here hoping to find an owner who can give some input. I'll look out for PHRF's in my area.

From the photos this looks like an adjustable jib car system. There are two cars (blocks) on the track which can be pulled forward with the line and held in place with the cam cleat. There are two cars because then the jib car for a small headsail and the jib car for a larger headsail (a genoa) can be controlled with one system. Only one car is in use at a time (because only one jib is in use at a time).

The NY 36 is a fractionally rigged boat, and generally it would run either a blade jib with it's sheets through the forward jib car or a genoa with its sheets through the after car depending on the wind strength. The jib will be sheeted inside the shrouds (or very close to the shroud), the genoa will be sheeted outside the shrouds.

The adjustable jib car system allows small adjustments to the jib sheeting position. It has less usefulness with roller furling jib. Should anyone wish to bastardize a nice NY35 with that option I'd suggest a large, non-overlapping jib on the roller with its sheets through the forward car.

As for what is going on aft, there is usually a long bungie cord looped back and forth the pull the cars back.

These are nice boats with a super cool interior layout.
