Small winch thats not a winch

Leopard Cat I rented recently (I know - why did't I pay attention / get pics) had an aftermarket winch installed for the furler.

It was an unusual (to me). Instead of a drum with wraps, the line only went 2/3 of the way around. It "gripped" the line between two compsite wedged drums with teeth, like the way the crown on a self tailing winch grabs the rope.

Single speed, direct drive.

Does anyone know what I am referring to? I cannot find a picture online.

Thanks
Paul

Sorry, I wasn't clear

THe other end, the winch end.
This was like some type of self tailing winch / windlass, without a drum. Just gripping jaws.

Antal has something called a “line driver”. Is that it?

For a long time Anderson made a very nice one of stainless, also called a "line driver" but I don't believe they make it anymore.

I have three on my boat: Main traveler, mizzen traveler, and main outhaul.

Antal has taken that niche.

I know what you mean and I am struggling to remember the name of it. It is a sheet winch with one wrap, a bit like the Antal Line driver.

Sounds like it
Looks like a winch with no drum, just the “jaws” part of a self tailer

Sounds like it could possibly have been a Setamar winch?
I believe they went out of business some years ago.
