Powerwincher - careful

Razzle Dazzle is a 61ft daggerboard cat. We have lots of Andersen winches 46-66 sizes.
Mast is about 23M.

One winch on her is powered, the rest manual.
Family is crew.

We use a Milwaukee M18 Fuel Drill (gen3/4) model to wind the winches. They do a non-hammer model.
It’s amazing and will absolutely tear your arms off when using two hands and side handle.
Gen4 has safety accelerometers to stop that.
Drill weight about 1.5kg without battery.

High speed, Fast direction on my halyard winch will direct hoist my 100kg self way too fast up the mast.
Hoisting out big mainsail is fast at 2:1.
Furling the genoa and solent is fast. Really fast.
It’s light and powerful, and with the new 6ah battery even better under load. Cost $152 on amazon skin only.
But, it’s not waterproof, needs two hands and is difficult to put down safely anywhere due to shape / side handle.

So I’ll try a Powerwincher, as they take M18 Milwaukee batts, can be used one handed and are water resistant, and are cheaper than an ewincher.

Comments after using for two weeks of passages

Not waterproof. Just partly rebuilt it after I stored it on a winch in the rain for 2 days.
Speed control no longer works. Rust on the gears.Nothing inside was water repellent sprayed.
Now it’s greased, sprayed and silicon sealed with drain holes added.

Very strongly built. Like a 5.5kg tank. My wife and kids hate lifting it. Kindof defeats the purpose.

Slow. It’s not ridiculous, it’s about 2/3 the speed of the electric Andersen single speed 66. Raising the mainsail or furling the genoa takes about 4x longer than using the Milwaukee drill.

I have been speaking with the GM and he suggested
A) hand crank to go faster. I bought a 5.5kg winch handle to hand crank. No.
B) it must have been dropped in the ocean.
C) the video of the control button jamming on is a “never seen before”

I wouldnt buy again.

Essentially, the Milwaukee is the better option, correct?

Wouldn't a sunbrella cover fix the missing splashproofness to some degree?

A lot of folks use the Milwaukee successfully, sounded like your powerwincher experience was not very good, especially if you phase the price in.
