Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

I've never seen those toggle ball bungees before... seems like a pretty cool option and something a lot of people use for the application.

I tie mine with a clove hitch followed by a half hitch, just like the fenders. Since our ties are fabric that gives plenty of grip. You may want to add in a few more half hitches.

Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

I use a bungee cord, same color of my weather cloths. There have been a number of instances of stanchions bent and even ripped out entirely when a big sea boarded.

Do you have a new knot for each hole in the cloth?

Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

My question is, how exactly would I tie a clove hitch with two bitter ends of rope?

Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

To look at the closest center console. They almost all tie the T top cloth on. If you use zip ties use black ones as the white ones UV breaks down fast

No, the ties are sewn onto the cloth. If you have grommet holes, I'd suggest a bowline to tie the string to the cloth.

Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

The cloth does have grommet holes as you can see in the photos. What do you mean by bowline?

Re: Ideas Regarding Spray Cloths

These are simple. In the top example, just run the tag end over the rail or lifeline, and then back down through the cinching loop, alongside the red, or into a clove hitch. In the 2nd example, both tag ends go over the rail, then through the cinching loop or into a clove hitch.

Listen to Jim and use bungee cord at least on the bottom as if the boat is ever taken offshore its good insurance not to break stuff.
