Re: Water cooled freezer

Knowing the facts and performance of your old system will help establish a base line needed to recommend a replacement unit. Using manufacturer’s charts of box size, insulation information and even comparing one boat’s refrigeration against another like boat is of little value if current quantified base line info is available.

Who is manufacture of present refrigeration?
Type of refrigeration air or water cooled?
Twelve volt or Alternating current or engine driven?
Size of compressor or compressors?
Hunter 41 with small 12 volt dual compressors had condensing units under stairs. Where is your compressor condensing unit or units located?
If your refrigeration is powered electrically list source of energy: alternator, solar or wind or on board generator?

Present systems performance experience that will establish a reasonable base info to develop a new replacement refrigeration unit:

Age of present refrigeration and age of box insulation?

Are there any cool spots on box exterior walls or top?

Compressor model number or Btu capacity or normal running amperage?

Approximate hours per day that compressor or compressors run?

What temperatures do you operate boxes at and are you satisfied with temperatures in Freezer and Refrigerator?

Do the above answers represent summer weather in tropics?

Re: Water cooled freezer

From looking at picture it appears to be a homemade system with a AC 1/3 hp water cooled condensing unit. I am also assuming you did not answer questions asked because system is not operational.

Re: Water cooled freezer

This system works sometimes it shuts off pump seawater pump and then the compressor condenser really heats up like 180 when it's pumping right it it's the condensers about a 125
I posted brand and all model numbers

Some members here have and are very happy with Ozefridge. A message to Peter will sort out all you need to know.

Any type of water cooling these small refrigeration systems create problems with reliability. A well designed water cooled system will have self bleeding air with no traps, sea water strainer, positive displacement pumps and high pressure switch protection.

If the only reason you need a new system is reliable seawater cooling there are less expensive solutions to condenser cooling. There are two primary reasons why condenser cooling is interrupted electrical problem of seawater flow restricted.

I can not find information on your compressor or the system manufacture. I know of no seawater cooled off the shelf systems or job shops that will provide the results you are looking for in the US Virgins, water cooled no air cooled yes.
