Substitute a Spectra Clark pump with a pressure washer.

After finding several leaks in my Clark Pump on my Seawind 1000Xl, I have been working on replacing it with a pressure washer pump. Below is a link to a fairly badly produced video I made. Constructive comments are welcome.

Lots of people, me included, use a pressure washer pump. That way I have a pressure washer on board, too.

What are you planning to do with the Clark pump?

I’m hoping one day I might find someone who has one with the parts I need still working, but I don’t like my chances.

Re: Substitute a Spectra Clark pump with a pressure washer.

I bought this pressure washer for my watermaker, Online from Sydney, $90-00 AUD Delivered,
Its aluminium, But its redundant, when it wears out, It goes over the side and I hook a new one up to it,
Its small and fits inside my cupboard where the Gernie wouldnt,
It puts out 3200 PSI,
I regulate it with the existing pressure valve on my watermaker, After its gone thru the membrane, My gauge starts at Zero, then I slowly add the pressure, Till its 900 PSI,

This one actually sucks up the water from 3 feet that I know off,
It also washes the boat, Comes with 8 metres of hose, Does a good job of that too,
Local hydraulic hose repairers (Pirtec) made the click on fittings for it for about $40-00 in Stainless,
This one does have a 15 mm hose fitting, Its Indian, But Pirtec had the fitting for it as well, ,
It comes with the prefilter from the raw side,

They wanted $1100-00 USD for the new 12 volt motor for the Little wonder Water maker pressure pump,,

Cheers, Brian,

Re: Substitute a Spectra Clark pump with a pressure washer.

That’s awesome! I have heaps of room for the gurney and at $100 I’m not concerned either! My hose guy is very enthusiastic, in fact a little too enthusiastic, so he quickly had the hoses made up.
I did t have the luxury of pressure control with my old Spectra so I needed a gauge and tap. Pretty happy with the result though. Once it’s fully installed I’ll report back on performance.
