Re: replacing head seal

Here is a photo of the SeaLand vacuum tank and a schematic of the vacuum switch showing what it looks like and where it has to go. Click on the image of the schematic to enlarge it.


As you can see, the cover must be removed, then remove the wiring from the switch (making note of which wire goes onto which post) and remove the existing switch by unscrewing the flat cap. If you can't manage that part, get some help to do it. It really won't matter whether you damage it or not, it's headed for the trash. Once you've done that, place the gasket in the hole and thread in the flat cap (part 2) without putting a wrench on anything but that flat cap. Reattach the wires and replace the cover and you're done.
