HVAC comparison

Are there any reviews of the current HVAC offerings? I need to replace my cruisair 16k and would like some opinions on the CTM, Webasto and flagship.

Re: HVAC comparison

Our local HVAC people have said they're liking the CTM 16Ks as potential replacement for older Cruisaire Stow-Away models. They also do Dometic DTGs as replacements, too. CTM seems to be less expensive, even with "boat show discount" on DTGs.

Onlne reading suggests CTMs can be damaged during delivery, something about the packaging. No first-hand experience.

We've replaced MarineAirrrr Vector Compacts, and Cruisaire Stow-Away, with DTGs. Drop in, easy replacement. The new model has been quieter, seems to move more air, and the composite drain pan is a plus.

I'm considering both CTMs and DTGs whenever we need to replace another Stow-Away.

Re: HVAC comparison

We just put in a new marinaire (NOT marineaireee - different company) 16k btu. Nice unit so far but has only been a month. I’m going to do a full write up after I have it in for a few months.

What’s your criteria? Power savings? More air flow? Dehumidify?

Coastal climate control is great company to discuss your needs with (not affiliated).

Check out Velair too. Excellent variable speed model from Italy.

Re: HVAC comparison

Installed a new Webasto FCF platinum 16k to replace an old Marineaiiire. It’s small and quiet and uses less juice but the control system is crap, actual temp .vs. set temp varies by as much as 4 degrees and every so often it looses its mind and either freezes us out or melts us.

We can't wait to get our Velair unit soon. Please post your tests once they're done.
