Fresh water system won't pressurize

Hello Everyone,

I am seeking advice on the best way to troubleshoot the reason why my water system will not pressurize. I have dual water tanks with a pump and small pressure tank under the galley sink. When I turn the breaker on, the pump runs continuously but very little pressure registers on the gage. Water will dispense while it is running, but not long after. It seems like there should be an optimal sequence of plugging lines and checking for suction or pressurization to isolate the problem. I was hoping to streamline this process by using the right method the first time around.

If the pump valves leak it will allow water pressure to return water to the tank. A check valve between the tank and pump should keep the pressure in the system.

But a pump with leaky valves is inefficient.

When you say small pressure tank, I assume you are referring to a pressure accumulator. It may have lost air pressure in the bladder. If so, re-pressurize it with a bicycle pump.

Re: Fresh water system won't pressurize

Hi I have a Passport 40 based in Chatham, UK. We need to replace the cockpit shower fitting as it is leaking and wondered if there was any other Passport 40 owner who could point us in the right direction? Many thanks - Helen & Bob
