You might consider pairing a
diaphragm pump (ie:
Jabsco “Par-Max”), or a flexible impeller
pump (ie:
Jabsco “Puppy”), installed out of the
bilge, with a centrifugal pump, in the
bilge.
Diaphragm pumps are self-priming, can be run dry without damage, and are better able to push
water uphill than centrifugal pumps (higher head). However, they can't move as much water, as a comparable centrifugal pump, and most can't tolerate even small bits of trash or debris (use a pre-strainer).
Flexible Impeller pumps cannot be run dry (for long), but move more water the Diaphragm pumps.
Both Diaphragm & Flexible Impeller pumps are remotely installed, high & dry. The strum box (pre-strainer) is the limiting height factor.
