Morgali asked on another thread "how it turns out". So this morning we moved on board for Christmas. Temperature on board has been around 8c (46f) for some weeks and this includes the portable Alpicool C20 freezer. We loaded it up completely full with pre-frozen goodies for Christmas, turned the freezer on and set the temperature at -18c (0.4f).

After a couple of minutes the temperature started to drop from 8c to -18c over the next 15 minutes before settling in to a 50/50 on off routine. We ran the diesel air heating and oil filled radiators for 10 hours to dry the damp out of the boat and stablised the temperature at 20c (68f) which seemed a pleasant temperature.

I then timed the Alpicool and it runs for 4m20s on and then switches off for 3 minutes. The freezer reports the temperature drops to -16 before switching back on and reducing the temperature back down to -18 (0.4f). The voltage reported by the Alpicool is 13.5v when off and 13.1 when running. The spec says it takes 45w so it's drawing between 3-4AH depending on the demand. Haven't tried making ice yet because we have left the ice cube tray at home unfortunately, but at this time of year in the UK hot chocolate is in greater demand.
