Re: To repair Yanmar SD50 or "upgrade " to SD 60

There are some CF posts elsewhere on this forum you can search. We have over a 1000hrs on each of our 60's without any issue. They have been real champs. During our stay in South Africa I had engine service from Yanmar who also supply SD60s to the local builders and the only issue they've reported in 3yrs (as of Jan 16) was where the shifter was not aligned correctly between fwd, neutral and reverse causing malfunctioning. Our experience has been all good.

Re: To repair Yanmar SD50 or "upgrade " to SD 60

Hi Gator Sailor.

Although I do not have more info on the SD60, the SD40/ SD50 works great after doing the Rework (replacing the thrust washers with Thrust Bearings etc etc. )that I described previously.

Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Thank you for the responses. Sounds like the 60s are putting up some good reliability numbers. Good data point for me down the road.

Best to you all

hi gatorsailor,
To date the SD 60's performing perfectly & have done 550 hours . Reassuring to know I don't have the uncertainty of malfunctioning cone clutches.
