shaft or cutlass bearing 1st?

Snapped my stb shaft on a 33' Bertram. No way coupling was coming off, so cut the shaft inside the boat. After haul cleaned everything up including pulling the cutlass bearing out.
Ordered everything new including having the new coupling faced to the shaft. The ? I have is how do I get the new coupling onto the shaft? Also should I install the shaft 1st & then figure out a way to drive the bearing on. I do not have access to a press.
Thanks
Al

Cutless goes on first, then the shaft goes back into the boat. lubricate the cutless bearing with dish soap before you re-install the shaft. Coupling will go back onto the shaft after its back in the boat. You should be able to just barely slide the coupling back on and then snug up the pinch bolts.

Thanks for the quick reply. The coupling is not a split one so it might be almost a press fit with no pinch bolt. I was wondering if I could use silicon Super Lube instead of the dish soap
