Re: New Zincs won't fit on my sd60 saildrive with autoprop

Martec is the distributor for auto stream props in the USA. They list zincs for this application on their web site, but no info about them. The prior ones we removed were the split rings. I will contact them tomorrow and see which they sell. If they are one piece, I would have to haul out to remove the props, so maybe trying to cut enough off the Yanmar split rings to make them fit can prevent that.

Re: New Zincs won't fit on my sd60 saildrive with autoprop

Sounds like it is an issue with the props fitting the Yanmar "standard".

I have an SD31 and SD50 with FlexOFold and Autoprops (long story). Have also had to use the standard 2 bladed prop when an Autoprop threw a blade. I have never had a problem fitting either the Yanmar split zinc (OUCH) or ones from Boatzincs (only little ouch).

The hubs on the probs fit inside the lip of the zincs with plenty of clearance. I would think not having a gap reduces chances of getting stuff between them, and more hydrodynamic.

Also, at least on the 31 and 50 the split zincs stay within the slipstream of the saildrive.

Moontide, I think you got it right. I talked to the reps from both Yanmar and Martec and they said they had never heard of any such problems. I suspect the yard just shaved them on a grinder and proceeded when these were last serviced. I had another diver have a look today and he said it was very close and shaving(grinding) 2-3mm off the top would probably allow them to fit. We should know in the morning.
