ASA Weather Endorsement

Who has or has opinions on the ASA Weather course? Is there any actual utility to having this "certification" as opposed to just learning on your own?
There's a course open in my area next weekend. Seems quite expensive and it's only twelve hours in the classroom. Which seems quite short for the scope of material listed in the syllabus. Though it might be fun.
I've already purchased the books from the Starpath course. Their on-line course fee is less than half the ASA fee.
Just reading the books is less than half of that. But you don't get any "certification"

Re: ASA Weather Endorsement

The ASA course is based upon the StarPath course and is a condensed version of it.

The full online StarPath class is very good and extensive with lots of online resources and access to StarPath instructors. I suggest not just buying the book, which is extensive but could use some editorial work, but rather sign up for the full online class and have access to all the resources....much better and a good value IMHO.

Re: ASA Weather Endorsement

Thanks for the input. A condensed version at twice the price? (Plus hotel room.) Does not immediately compute! I was about to sign up but then I thought, "Wow, I could buy that new battery bank for this much." I am happy to see ASA offering topics like this, but it doesn't seem as if they've quite hit the price/value point here.

LOL. I just now got an email saying they've dropped the price $100
