Submersible superyachts for billionaires

An interesting article but I just don't see this taking off - for one thing, what is the attraction of being 250 meters underwater? There's not much you can see at that depth, and you certainly can't lounge about on the deck outside.

But who knows, maybe in the future CF will add submersibles as category along with powered and sailing boats.

The best purpose I could see would be escaping from pirates or from local authorities if you were carrying contraband.

Didn't the US Coasties just nick a semi-submersible with something like two tons of the stuff aboard?

Doesn't the Don have a field day with CNN as fake news? BS suspected. Anyhow the older I get the more I agree with Bernie Sanders. One just doesn't need that much money or should have that much money.

One attraction of being 250 meters underwater is the absence of wave action.

Good point. Escaping storms would always be useful.

Yes, but if there is a bad storm above you have to consider that it may be raining sinking monohulls on top of you.

Re: Submersible superyachts for billionaires

I’m totally comfortable with anything that thins out the 1% herd. Can you imagine any scenario where you’d NOT be a target for any or all military powers on an unidentifiable submarine? There are also the utterly vast array of complexities that operating such a big submarine raise and need to be considered….where do you haul out? where do you dock it ? Refuel it? Get sub mariner crew? Pilotage? Here in the Malacca straits and Singapore straits where container ships have a UKC of only a few metres you’d be unable to travel submerged….. and then there’s the fishing nets and trawler fleets…. Nah , this idea has bad news written all over it, though I don’t doubt that it could be accomplished. Is this where the “ Ultimate alpha prepper” ends up? Are things going so badly in the world that this is actually someones idea of a survival solution?
