I'm looking for a small 1 gallon or 2 for my 4 hp outboard.
Any Ideas

Re: Small Outboard Fuel Tank

I think the smallest external tanks I've seen are 3-gallons. West Marine, Defender, etc., assuming you're in the US somewhere...

I also have an internal tank on my outboard, so also use a 1-gallon can from Home Depot, etc. (same assumption).

Re: Small Fuel Tank on your old riding mower

I just junked an old riding mower and was removing the starter when I notied the nice 1 gal tank on it. This tank was retangular and only about 4-5" thick and a nice squared off shape with a large fill opening. I thought, just the thing for a small dingy tank. The mower was a "Lawn Chief" 12 hp, 36" cut. I plan to use it attached to the transom, right below the outblard clamps. 1 gallon is plenty for normal use.

Re: Small Outboard Fuel Tank

CP, Most of the marine suppliers sell Moeller fuel tanks. We have had very bad experiences with Moeller tanks for the last couple of years. See our review here, The Trawler Beach House: Moeller Marine Products Review . We have replaced them with these, Tohatsu / Nissan Fuel Tank . They are more expensive but we don't have to throw them away in a few months. Chuck

In your review, you mention the fittings easily spinning freely within the fuel line due to the spring clips. We've noticed the same issue, and occasionally our outboard has stalled when using the external tank for no other apparent reason -- and I'm guessing air in the line -- so I've replaced those spring clips with proper hose clamps.
