I'm brand new to this
boat. Absolutely love it, but have an issue with the SureShade
bimini. Found out that the prior owner also had problems and just replaced the
motor for it last summer because of
water contamination. He paid $1700 to "fix" the problem, which included the
motor replacement and MarineMax came out and modified the top to install 2 drain holes (port and starboard) to make sure
water didn't get to the SureShade motor again... Well, it did it again. This presents 2 problems. (1) I need to probably get another motor for the SureShade and (2) The 2 drain holes MarineMax put in the top drain into the
cabin, not outside.
I've installed 2 plastic tubes that I jammed into the drain holes and ran the tubes by the Isinglass and out to the exterior of the
boat so the
interior (hopefully) will stay dry. They're also easy to just pull out if I decide to run without the isinglass. (Still - pretty cheesy)
Really looking for any Aquila folks that have experienced this before and have solutions. I've got some engineering background, so I figured once I get the SureShade to
work again, I will be able to get into the area that I believe the water is penetrating and eliminate the problem all together.
