Re: Yacht Rock - Is this a real Genre?

I always thought that to be "yacht rock" it needed to be easy to play on guitar so that when your at the Chat and Chill you can play it for the singalongs !

Which artists would you include?
Jimmy Buffet is in really the founder in the category "Trop Rock"

How could anyone deny Yacht Rock? Here is part one of a documentary chronicling it's origins.

Surely it's an oversight not to include "Louie, Louie"?

Cheers!

Re: Yacht Rock - Is this a real Genre?

When ever to leave the dock, my first “go to” albums are “Affirmation IV” by One Bitcoin Tox because, that’s the album that includes “Ramukanji” (the Delos theme song). Nothing gets me pumped for sailing like that song! “Straight from the crew, out to the blue, we represent the voices of my ancestors calling…”.

Followed by JB’s “Fruitcakes” because that album basically shaped who I am today. “Human beings are flawed into vision. The cosmic bakers took out of the oven a little too early! Take for example when you go to the movies these day….” That monologue hits harder than a fist! “I don’t want a 12lbs nestle crunch for $25! I want my Jr. Mints! We need more people who care!”

After that, lofi genres really set the mood to have fun! Lofi-house is up-beat, gentle, and easy to have conversation over.

it lives on the boat.

Re: Yacht Rock - Is this a real Genre?

I love organic rock music.
My favourite band is the Almond Butters.

Re: Yacht Rock - Is this a real Genre?

The words "yacht" and "rock" should never be used in the same sentence.
They are or they should be mutually exclusive and never come close together.
All my boating life I have trying to avoid the rock, so far I had good luck and possibly good charts. My aim to keep the yacht and rocks at least a mile apart.
