Fun one question survey - VHF, port reference

Hello all,

Here is a silly question survey just for fun

Which of the following would you use for a 30 - 50 foot sailing cruiser, when using VHF, official forms etc:

1. S.Y. - Sailing yacht
2. S.V. - Sailing vessel
3. S.B. - Sailing boat

I know most sailors will probably will never use such acronym/short hand, but the question is intended to those who DO or have an opinion about which one of the three is more appropriate.

A simple reply with a number would be great. We can then count at the end.

Cheers
AJAL

#2 The official term is SV. That’s what’s used on my flag registration.

Also used in

MV
FV

For motor and fishing vessel accordingly.

Doesn’t it depend on the country's language?

SV is commonly understood to mean motor assisted sailing boat. English [or a reasonable facsimile thereof] is the international language of the seas.

SV for sure.

In the US, the term "yacht" can have negative connotations. Sort of elitist. Yes, it's more accurate, and perfectly acceptable elsewhere. It's just sometimes frowned on here.
