That's why I loved the old Volvo MD2B in my Longbow.. the hand crank never failed like batteries sometimes did..

Technically, the engine could be hand-cranked as well. It is a 40hp outboard but I got tired of wrapping the rope around the flywheel and yanking. In retrospect I think there may have been a fuel pump issue as well. I dismantled and rebuilt it not long after and it starts a lot easier now.
