Advertising banner covering the recent thread topics

A large right side banner advertising is covering over the list of the recent thread topic posts so that they cannot be read or clicked to link to.

This issue has only recently occurred, perhaps starting three days ago.

Please revise the displaying format f the side banner ad so as to not have it cover the recent post topics.

Thank you.

Re: Advertising banner covering the recent thread topics

Yep, I am seeing the same problem.

For some reason, on CF and TF, I use the recent thread post list to find things to read. I don't do this on any other website for some reason. Just CF and TF. TF is not having this problem.

The problem means I am spending less time on CF....

Later,
Dan

Adblock is your friend.

Re: Advertising banner covering the recent thread topics

There is one banner ad position that is displayed along the right side of the thread postings that recently has been enlarging length wise into a long rectangle and then overlays the Recent Discussion list of thread topics and links.

It is very annoying. Also the content of the ad is kind of inappropriate, often being ladies thong panties, lingerie and "intimate apparel" kind of like the most slutty type of Victoria Secret; the kind of clothing one expects to see displayed in the Red Light district windows of Amsterdam.

I reported this to the CF technical help a few days ago but have yet to hear any response and Zero corrective action. Crickets!!!!

I do not believe adblockers will discontinue the display of the side banner advertisements on this CruisersForum web page, for example, the Ultra Anchor, Delta Anchor, HH Catamaran, Rainman, eMarine, etc.

Now I have an Ad displayed for "Educated Singles Only", looks like some kind of low end cheesey dating service what with the scrolling images of scantily clothed ladies on the bed of a hotel and lots of well endowed chests and cleavage. I am a guy and i find these ads demeaning; I suspect the ladies on CF would find them even more revolting and degrading, misogynistic for sure.

CF really needs to step up with a higher quality of advertising displays, many of these are raunchy. Darn near what one would expect to see say on a .xxx website.

Exactly my issue. Sometimes I have to refresh the page several times and that seems to temporarily reset the offensive, enlarged ad so that it no longer covers over the Recent Discussion topic list and links.

Question for you Dan what is TF?

All the best,

Montana Dan

Thanks for the reports. Is there a specific ad doing this?

Re: Advertising banner covering the recent thread topics

Okay, so at this moment, I am not seeing a display ad overlaying the Recent Discussion list of topics, but that list of topics now does not link through to the thread. It is just a list without the means to click and move to the topic thread.

Clearly someone is technically messing around with the CF webpage set up and buggering up the system.

Attached is a snipped image of what the overlaying right side banner ad looks like that covers the Recent Discussion list of topics section of the CF webpage. This banner is a changing rotation of ad content, some of such content is downright raunchy.

Janet.

It is a rotating content banner ad at the right side. It changes content about every 10 to 15 seconds.

The latest one was a close up of a tank top of woman with really large chest.

I have seen some that were of men's thongs. So at least there is some gender equality of raunchy content.

Re: Advertising banner covering the recent thread topics

When I click on the Ad Choices it indicates it is a Ads by Google.

When I report the ad and click on Stop seeing the ad, and then I click on the subject of Ad Covered Content or Ad was inappropriate the ad disappears and Google displays We will try to not show this ad again. But another ad shows up and overlays the Recent Discussion topic list again.

I run Adblock & Adguard. I see no side banner ads at all.

I also normally use the V 1.0 skin while on the CF website. I find it is less cluttered, loads faster, and (I suspect) is less prone to problematic ads. But my ad blocking works in both versions.

Having raunchy ads would probably make more readers whitelist CF.
After reading the post by Montanan I temporarily disabled my blocker but could not find anything raunchy Only ads for anchors and other boat stuff.

Okay, so rate this long rectangular banner ad that was displayed overlaying the Recent Discussion topics list that is on the right side of the thread.

Thumbs up, or thumbs down.

So if you have an Ad blocker one can eliminate all the ads on the CF, well that certainly seems like it could displace the revenue source for CF because many ads are priced on number of "impressions" and if it does not display than it likely is not included in the impression volume for CF.

I don't mind the side banners as long as they don't overlay the user interface content. Some of the ads are for products or services that I have used and I do click through to them from time to time as they are relevant. It is just this new offensive banner that has really not appropriate and irrelevant content and of course is displayed such that it makes the CF dysfunctional.
