On the tool bar there is a button for turning text on/off. Click it and see what happens.

Tried that lots times also the options in the charts menu area, really odd as the raster charts are fine, dont see anything in the cpn help manual as yet.

Re: ENC Noaa charts California

Possibly:

On the "Options" dialog, select "Charts" and then "Vector Chart Display" under that.

Select either "Standard" or "Mariner's Standard" for "Display Category".
Make sure "De-Cluttered Text" is checked.
Click "Apply".

There are many option you can separately enable/disable along the right side of this screen, so you can play with those options as well (and they may be affecting your current display already, so maybe switch between categories and apply the changes once to reset those options).

Raster charts are a single image blob. Nothing is optional within the chart, so there should be no surprises that, so long as you can see a raster chart, any specific datum is present, while vector charts are a series of discrete items all of which have to be separately drawn and so can be enabled or disabled.

Re: ENC Noaa charts California

I should add, that if "Base" is selected for "Display Category" you won't see much in the way of labels.

Also, labels are heavily dependent on zoom level, so try zooming in a bit if all else fails. The "Reduced Detail as Small Scale" and some of the other options affect this.

Re: ENC Noaa charts California

Finally got it, had "light" checked in mariners standard and for some reason that stopped the text from showing in "standard" view, really odd.
Thanks for all the replies guys appreciated.
