Lagoon 440 Low Fresh Water Pressure

Need some help. My new to me 08 440 has very low fresh water pressure. Sometimes none at all. Today it worked, but barely. Can someone please lead me in the right direction on where to start? Pump or leak? Accumulator tank? I'm not the handiest person. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Replace the fresh water pump. Sounds like the diaphragm is bad.

There are rebuild kits you can buy for most pumps, but if you want the quick fix, just buy a new pump.

Make sure the new pump has the same specs as the one you have now.

Its unlikely to be a leak or you'd have water everywhere. It's not the accumulator tank, they won't interfere with the pump creating pressure. I'm with Alan. It sounds like the diaphragm on your pump is shot. If you have one of the small common Jabsco-type pumps they are pretty easy to service. Unscrew the head, replace the rubber bits and screw back on....or for the sake of an extra $50, replace the pump. First though, unscrew the water feed going to the pump to make sure that it flows freely. If the pump doesn't have an unrestricted water supply it can't pump it. If that's OK, unscrew the outlet from the pump and set the pump running. If it's not pushing water out properly then a service kit is required.

First check water strainer that leads into the pump, normally the plastic bowl unscrews and a wire mesh filter can be cleaned and put back. To check if the diaphragm is stuffed you can stick the input pipe into a bucket of water, if it pumps ok you will have a blockage at the tank or in the feed pipe.

Re: Lagoon 440 Low Fresh Water Pressure

When you say low pressure, I assume you mean low water delivery pressure at the tap. The water accumulator is set to turn pump off when the correct storage pressure is reached then turn on as pressure drops when tap opened. Then re-pressure tank when tap closed and the pump turns of again when correct pressure reached.

If the problem was your pump unable to supply the correct pressure it would be running continuously. (possible pump problem) same symptom can be caused by a leak (but then you will have fresh water coming out somewhere)

If the pump can supply correct pressure but the flow is very slow. Once you turn tap off pump eventually switches off. This could indicate a flow issue (blocking filter) but the initial tap flow should be good from the accumulator but then drop of quickly.

Hope this helps you to give us a bit more detail of what is happening.

A further thought, if not solved already, previous owner may have replaced original pump with an inadequate one or a different type. If you can advise the pump brand and model number and its PSI rating (should be on a label on the the pump) then maybe suggestions could be better directed.
