Texas Liveaboard

Hi Folks,

I spent most of a year living on and fixing up an old Dickerson 35 ketch with my boyfriend on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. I worked at a marina at the time and did learned to sail by going out on our project boat and crewing for another boat in St. Michaels. At the end of the year, we took the boat down the ICW to Wilmington, NC and sold her.

Unable to be boatless, my boyfriend, quickly bought another boat more suited to our spartan needs. He sailed our current boat, an Aleutka 26 from Pensacola, FL back to Port Lavaca, TX where she's been slipped all hurricane season while we worked up in Austin. Having made our money for the year, we're back to living aboard here in Port Lavaca, planning to head toward the Bahamas in the next week.

I've enjoyed reading these forums for a couple years, but I've finally stored up a few posts of my own.

Welcome and thanks for the inspiration. We're still tied to the dock in Kemah till next year. Send us a post card from the Bahamas! And be careful out there.
