Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
What kinds have you used? This sounds interesting, but my local suppliers don't seem to carry them. Found this on a web search:... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Yes, the repaired ama was done to plans, with stringers, butt blocks and standard skins of meranti. MacKenzie Devin did the work and it's lovely. I think I'll stick with the Searunner method and... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
My winter project is to build a new ama for by A-frame 31, and I'm looking for tips. Pineapple Express was started in about 1969, and the ama's were built with polyester resin, fir, and a mix of... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Decent SR 31 sails free to a good home: I've replaced most of the sails on my Searunner 31, and would like to find a home for the original suit. They are old and stretched, but serviceable, clean,... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Migizi - Welcome to the SeaRunner world! @Cavalier is right on - drill the hole. On my '31 the low point is under the washroom cabinsole, which is coincidentally a good place for thru-hulls. If... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
For the first time in a long while I was reminded today what a good thing it is to have a centerboard. The wind picked up to about 15 knots today, which is unusual for the southern part of the... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Thanks @RoyM - When you get there I'd love to know how the furling staysail works for you. Seems like a natural adaptation. Where do you attach the asymmetrical chute? On the stemhead or on a... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Roller furling or hanks? The headsails on my Searunner 31 A-frame are getting old, and I'm thinking about replacing with roller furling. Anybody have opinions one way or the other? All my... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Dan, Congratulations, the boat looks great! My old 25 had a similar issue, though perhaps not as extreme as yours, by the sound of it. I built a kind of narrow heating vent grille insert for... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Hey SeaOtterJim, how does that saildrive work for you? Saw a 34 with a saildrive down in Napa a few years ago and was intrigued. What make/model is it, and did you reinforce the hull around the... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
I think the mast measure for the 31 is from the step, on the cabintop, not including the post. I don't have the measurement handy from my boat, but I think the main halliard hoist was 32' not... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Thanks to a lot of help from John Prentice I was able to replace the centerboard on Pineapple Express (SR31 #105). I posted some photos in an album... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Owly - Interesting idea with the air-cooled honda and right-angle rig below. On my A-frame SR31 there's about 10" of clearance between the cockpit subfloor and the framing under the forward quarter... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Cavalier speaks my mind. My 31 came with a Yamaha but now has a Honda 9.9 long shaft modified to 15hp. The extra power definitely helps in a chop, but the Honda is sensitive to water through the... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
I have also had good luck with tennis nets, though I bought mine on Amazon. Good enough and easy to find. A single standard net will do both sides of a Searunner 31 from angle brace to angle brace. ... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
When demounted and carefully packed on a cradle the a-frame 31 is just under 8' wide and about 8' tall. You could probably fit it in an open top 40' container, but I don't know how you could slide it... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
If you don't need to use the staysail then your dodger build should be a lot simpler (and perhaps lighter) because you won't have to worry about sheets slamming the frame, and you can go all the... |

Nice looking boat Jimske. Your cover is what I was imagining for the "Conestoga idea. Do you use the staysail? Sent from my HTC6600LVW using Cruisers Sailing Forum mobile app |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
Pineapple Express's windshield was (I think) a stock model from an early 1960's motorboat. It was made of bent 1/4" plexiglass with a thin metal surround on the vertical edge. It did not survive the... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
With Pineapple Express (SR31 #105) out of the water I've been reminded of the difficulty of launching and retrieving a dinghy from the A-frame 31. Anyone have a suggestion on how to lift and stow... |

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
