yeah well i know you guys like to motor everywhere in sheltered waters.......if you get your timing right you can motor all the way! why even bother having sails on your boats.

it may be 10-15 knots in sheltered singapore,but offshore after may/june its blowing a fairly constant 35 !

as for the cyclone belt being 1000miles,at that time of the year,the end of cyclone...

with the NW monsoon starting in early april in the north western indian ocean,march is the right time to leave the west coast of australia if heading for malaysia.

mark not sure if you have ever done a trans equitorial route in the indian ocean,i'm on number 7 now,most of them done in march /april/may as this is the transition season.

with the NW monsoon...
