Re: Did anyone beach or fall dry a Lavezzi, Lipari or Athena?

I beach my Mahé 36 mainly for fun and sometimes to clean the propeller. The first picture is on the beach of Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula, Wales. Because the sand was not too hard the tip of the...

Re: Did anyone beach or fall dry a Lavezzi, Lipari or Athena?

A bit late, I don't know if your question is still open, but we have a Mahe 36 and we have beached it several times without a problem. She sits perfectly upright. If you want to I can post a picture....

Re: Owners

Hi Neil,
Ah, I see, the Holyhead effect. We were there for the first time in 2013, a beautiful marina. We still had our monohull and we used a mooring. In 2020 I was there again, what a sad sight…...

Re: Chain size 8mm or 10mm and how much did you fit in chain locker

On my Mahe 36, a bit smaller than the Lavezzi and the Athena, I went from 10 mm to 8 mm (Maggi Aqua 4 = grade 40). Same strength but much lighter and takes up less room. Very happy with it.

Re: Owners

Hi Niel,
Welcome in the Mahé group. The Bristol Channel is a nice place to sail. We were there in 2018 in our Mahé Joy. We didn’t go as far as Cardiff but we were in Swansea Marina and anchored in...

Re: Owners

The breakers are in a box under the port bed, on the starboard side.
When you are sitting on your knees to look under the bed it is on your left.
Succes!

Re: Rig and Sails

I have a question about my mast. Sometimes I am a bit worried about it.
MKB53 rightly said (post 385): “The Mahe is a 3/4 rig. There is a lot of unstayed mast...

Re: Rig and Sails

Yes Martyn, I used the same batten hardware for the new sail. I only had to add one batten car for the extra diagonal batten.

Hi Martyn,
Last year I bought a square top main and I am very happy with it.
Yesterday I went to the boat to take some measurements to answer your questions:

- The top is 1.42 m wide...

Hi Rufduck,
Not much reactions on your question about the square head mainsail…

I am also planning to change to a square head main on my 2006 Mahé so I am very curious if you got any further...

Cotemar, I shamelessly copied your idea of fixing a steel bar over the anchor roller to prevent the chain from jumping out, which you again borrowed from Takemoana.
The boat is still on the hard...
