Island Packet 31 .... What's a Good Price?

There's another thread on the forums here of late discussing what a realistic price, versus asking price for boats these days. Needless to say, it's a buyers market and, I'm thinking that is a trend...

And I need one quick. Do any of you know a person you could trust to do a good through inspection for an out of towner? I'm got my eye on a boat but the auction is coming up quick. I'd need it done...

Buying a boat in Florida... What to expect?

So "if" I find a boat in Florida, what all will I need to expect to close the deal?

(1) a clear title... sounds easy; is it?

(2) hopefully a survey; how old can one be and still be of value...

It's a 1986 model C&C.... and if that splice is ok (extrusion lengths and shipping makes sense) and indeed "factory" then fine by me. I have no idea exactly how tall a C&C 38 Landfall's mast "should"...
