To Arrive in the USA on a sailboat you MUST have a B1 B2 visa. It is recommended to have this before you check out of the USA just in case you need to return for whatever reason.

If I am not mistaken VirtualVagabond bought a CT54 about 18 months 2 years ago and sailed back to Australia. You could PM him as I don't know if he is active on the forum at the moment.
