The 0.707 is the sine (and in this one instance, the cosine) of a 45 degree angle - so it would probably be trotted out when tacking.
Considering one will not know the weather more than a few days...

A variation: my boat sails as well, so I deploy the first anchor as normally, then drop a second straight down (about a 1.1:1 scope) which puts a brake on sailing during a wind event. Obviously not...

The rigger is probably correct, that the size difference is immaterial, or at worst the toggle will bend itself around the pin! However, I have a 1982 Kenyon mast as well and would worry...

get a very small (car stereo sized) Icom 706 out of eBay with an SGC tuner for a few hundred and hopefully...

I believe you are correct about the lack of zincs in the engine - at least my 4JH3E doesn't have any.
Possible cause - an electrical ground attached to the engine manifold?
