Ive got one. Mine is one of the 7 originals in timber. Not sure i can help with refit and my brain has seen better days but I can assert that you won't be disappointed when she's going nicely along!

I went Darwin to Cairns in October 09 in conditions you describe, although I was expecting/hoping for northerlies. I was able to anchor almost every night.
