The spring in the door lock for my toiletdoor just broke. Replacement lock seems to be hard to find.
Anyone who have any advise?

Re: Propellers

Hi

My Mahe with D1-30/130 was initially delivered with 17x12 3-blade folding Volvo propellers. I found them a bit to small, as the engines would go 3100, and should stop at 2800. So I switched...

Same thing happened to me - described here:

And this is how I fixed it:

Re: Engines

The Volvo D1's have no internal engine zink, only on the propeller and drive.

The drive and the engine are electrically separated, and I've been told you should be able measure at least 600 ohms...

Re: Hull

Correct. You would ruin the front wall of the shower.
I think you need to do some measuring, to see if it is possible to get in between the lower sides of the showercompartment and the hull, (were...

Hi Ric.

All well in my cellar :)
The engines and props are working well, after two seasons and around 150 hours of operation. As mentioned earlier, there is one drawback: the level of...

Re: Plumbing and Water Heater

I can not see why using the inverter to power the 240V element, when you have surplus 12v power available, is extremely inefficient?

Re: Sail Drives and Props

Be careful with these calculators.
Did it calculate based on a catamaran, or a monohull?

In my case, I found that FP most lightly use Volvo's monohull calculator to find propellers, as...

Re: Sail Drives and Props

I would definitely follow your own advise: Go for the 18" 2-blade. I would have done so myself, if I didn't already have the 3-blade hubs. The 50% extra for the 3-blade (is it really that much?) is...

Re: Sail Drives and Props

Two engines not synced do tend to create vibrations, yes. I have had two sets of 3-blade folding on my boat, and vibrations when engines is not synced has been there always, on both prop sets. My...

Sad to hear you experienced the same accident. Obviously a week point, and I have tried to inform FP about it.

Re: Sail Drives and Props

According to Volvo, the D1-30 should be propped to reach a max RPM between 2800 and 3200. The 3250-3300 reached with the props installed by FP are too high, and I think the 2950 I now get with the...

Re: Sail Drives and Props

18x13 Volvo 3 blade folding props mounted, to replace the original 17x12.
Results are: (boat "empty" and clean):

Two engines:
Prop: RPM: Knots:
17x12 2400 7,9
18x13 2400 8,6

17x12 3250...

Re: Sail Drives and Props

Done, but with a regular valve. Works great. I can now easily flush my engines with fresh water whenever a want to, and conserving for wintertime is of course much easier.
If I should need to flush...

Re: Sail Drives and Props

A great idea, Brian!

But I would use a 3-way T-valve on top of the original seacock.
Then you would have 3 positions:

1) -open from leg to engine- normal operation.
2) -open from leg to...
