Wind Generator Charge Controller
After extensive research on charge controllers I have found that they operate differently for wind generators than they do for solar arrays. For solar arrays: When a charge controller is used... |

Parts for my outboard crane
I just recently bought my dream boat, an IP38. As with every boat (dream or otherwise), there things that are not right. This particular "thing" is the crane for my 9.9-HP outboard. The issue is... |

Boom for an IP38
I am considering an 38' offshore cruiser with in-boom furler. After looking at the boat in person, I have several concerns with this rig: 1. The mainsail "attaches" to the mast via standoffs. The... |

IP38
I have read many discussion threads on the Island Packet 38. I have also talked to some owners of these boats concerning their pros and cons. I am considering buying an IP38 this year, in... |

Re: Adler-Barbour Cold Machine Stopped Working
Richard, I did look at the fuse holder but not the circuit board. I will break out my inspection mirror (circuit board on other side of stainless steel box). The measurements I was taking was... |

Re: Adler-Barbour Cold Machine Stopped Working
Richard, What about the loading on the voltage? From my technician days that usually indicated insufficient source (already replaced house batteries) or an excessive load. I will try the... |

Re: Adler-Barbour Cold Machine Stopped Working
Richard, Small world, yes the Watkins is a sturdy boat, lots of headroom too (I'm 6'5" and I can stand up straight down below). As for the CU100 the LED is not lit at all. Your Tech Tip looks... |

Adler-Barbour Cold Machine Stopped Working
I am in need of some feedback concerning my Adler-Barbour Cold Machine (air-cooled), it has stopped working altogether. In December 2015, I moved from Texas to Florida. I had to leave my boat... |

Re: First time buyer seeking a liveaboard
Look at a Watkins 32, a bit bigger than your range but a good solid boat with 6'5" of headroom and an ample v-berth. |

Re: Adler Barbour Not Runnin
I just replaced the batteries and all the wiring checks out. The voltage doesn't go down until I insert the 15A (Main) fuse on the wiring unit. |

Adler Barbour Not Runnin
I am a liveaboard in Texas and my Adler Barbour CU-100 just stopped working. The LED is flashing 1 (per minute) which I know is a low voltage indication. With a digital multimeter, I checked... |

Re: any portable workbench recommendations?
I'd be interested in replies to this as well. I want to go cruising as soon as possible but to have a dedicated workbench area requires a bigger boat and thus more expensive (longer wait). |

Re: Getting discouraged
Sorry, I meant to say I am 6'5" tall and I live on a Watkins 32. The 36 is a bit bigger but has less headroom, believe it or not. David |

Re: Getting discouraged
Sarah, Look at a Watkins 32 or 36. It is a sturdy boat with lots of headroom. I am 6'5" tall and I live on one. It has an ample v-berth (again I am 6'5") and a quarter berth to port. The diesel... |

Re: Cleaning Old Brass and Metals

Re: Liveaboard Noob Needs Advice
Kevbot, This is a lot of good advice on here but I would add just a little more. When looking for a boat don't count out a Watkins 32/33. They are cheap, strong and spacious (especially headroom). |
