Re: Tropical Storm Sally
Bayou Chico. Skanska keeps a large compound there. That is where they have moved them in the past when storms are threatening. |

Re: Tropical Storm Sally
It seems most people in Pensacola took no notice either. A few hours before the storm hit we checked several marinas that have no protection and they were pretty much full. The construction company... |

Re: Bread Making on board
The no-knead breads are excellent but have a bit of a learning curve. For sure worth taking the time to master. For kneaded bread, like Zanshin I knead in the same bowl I mix and proof in. I like... |

Re: best cruising grounds for vegans?
I would think the opposite is true. People in poverty seem to eat mostly veggies and grains. |

Re: Economy fuel polishing
That is crazy. I just bought 2 service kits for my Racor 500s. The new ones are cheaper than the service kits. |

If your GB is like mine, there should be two parts for the emergency steering: a metal piece that goes through the access plate and slides over the rudder post and a wood tiller that clips onto the... |

Re: How much to pay for someone else's improvements?
I don't think that is quite right. Money dumped into a boat can increase its value. The question is just by how much. If you look at a 1988 xyz 36, some will be listed at $80k and some at $120k.... |

Re: Brazos River gates
Not sure I get the question, but normally they are open and you just drive through. They are only closed when there is a flood. |

Re: Worlds best city to start sailing and purchase blue water boat?

Re: Kedge: Danforth HT vs. Fortress
Thanks for all the input. FWIW, I will never stow this anchor. I will keep it rigged as a stern anchor. So stowability is not a factor for me. Just price and strength. Sounds like most people feel... |

Kedge: Danforth HT vs. Fortress
Curious what people think about a Danforth HT compared to a Fortress for a kedge anchor? The weight advantage of the Fortress seems compelling if you have to dinghy it out. I wonder if the HT is... |

Re: Worlds best city to start sailing and purchase blue water boat?
There are a bunch of marinas in Malaysia right across the border from Singapore that might be worth a look. Great schools, great location for excursions, worlds best airport. |

Re: Best quick connection, nylon to chain
I would use a screw-gate carabiner. Just make sure it is stronger than the chain. It would probably be best to have a shackle on the chain already and use the carabiner to attach the thimble to the... |
