Re: Com Pac 27, opinions please

Sorry for the delayed response, kind of busy right now.
The boat came with the trailer.
It spent summer months on a mooring at Dillon res in Summit County Colorado.
I trailered it to Southern...

Re: Com Pac 27, opinions please

There are far too many variables to say yes or no and the question is lost in this old thread about a specific boat.

I'd suggest starting a new thread, introduce yourself, what you want to...

Re: Com Pac 27, opinions please

In my opinion yes it would be a safe first sailboat.
Maybe not the best to learn on but definitely safe.
Why so big for a first boat? Something smaller with a tiller might be a better learning...

Re: Boats Gotta Go, how do I get rid of it?

Put me in line also.
First you needed to dump it, now you have people lining up.

Re: Com Pac 27, opinions please

Never did. I knew it was over width but figured I'd plead ignorance if it ever came up.

Had a seized caliper in Idaho one trip. Was repairing it on the side of I84 and highway patrol stopped to...

Re: Com Pac 27, opinions please

Too funny, I got an email notification that this 12 year old thread was revived somehow.
I guess the term "trailerable" is subjective. I bought this boat and trailered from Colorado to Mexico,...

Re: Opinion on a few mid 30' boats

Great discussion going on. Seems like both the 383 and CS36 are equally liked. That really helps verify why those are at the top of my current list.

The two boats are in very similar condition and...

Re: Opinion on a few mid 30' boats

Plan on buying on the west coast but considering the Canadian dollar anything is possible.

The CS36 I looked at today was very well cared for. It is tied for top of the list with a well cared for...

Opinion on a few mid 30' boats

Long time no post.

I'm looking for our next boat, something in the mid 30's to max of 40'. Purpose is coastal cruising, hopefully head down Mexico way next fall. Two handed sailing, wife and I....

Re: CAL 28

Dug up this old thread while researching Cal 28-2. Just wondering how it turned out.
And have a question. Is the keel lead or cast iron?

Re: islander 36

They are entirely different boats. One is not necessarely better than the other. The Perry boat is a Freeport and a great cruiser. The Gurney boat is more of a racer/cruiser. Freeport is beamier,...

Re: 1986 ComPac 27 with Trailer

No, that's the old topping lift. I use a boom kicker which freed it up. It's now rigged to the davit to provide extra support when the dink is loaded.

1986 ComPac 27 with Trailer

ComPac 27's are excellent coastal/bay cruisers. This one can go from coast to coast at 55mph. However it should not to be considered a day sailor!
This particular boat is in very good condition and...

I made my own with the same components for a fraction of retail. But I have a buddy with a heavy duty sewing machine. He's sewn lots of stuff for me and saved a ton.

I was refering to financial means. My guess would be the vast majority. Info and advice is different.

I've always thought cruisers were pretty much self realiant. Could be wrong.

Well put me in the grumpy moralist camp. I wonder how many of the members you noted accomplished their goals on their own. Without resorting to asking for handouts on the internet.
